Mazak continues its steadfast advancement toward the complete digitization of all its manufacturing operations with the recent transformation of its Oguchi, Japan, facility into yet another Mazak iSMART Factory™. The Oguchi plant now joins Mazak’s iSMART Factory in Florence, Kentucky, as the first two in the company’s plan to eventually designate all ten of its manufacturing operations as Mazak iSMART Factories.
Mazak Canada will showcase several machine tool innovations suitable for shops of all sizes and manufacturing requirements at this year’s CMTS in booth 2560. Show attendees will experience a variety of Mazak technology demonstrations, including the additive and subtractive part processing of the company’s VC-500 AM HYBRID Multi-Tasking Machine.
Mazak Corporation drew from the ranks of its highly capable and experienced management team and promoted Christopher Papke to the position of Southwest Regional General Manager. Papke will take over for Dana Scott who is set to retire after 19 years as the head of Mazak’s Southwest Technology Center in Houston, Texas.
In support of the local Technology & Manufacturing Association (TMA), Mazak’s Midwest Technology Center hosted the 26th annual 2017 Precision Machining Competition, which honors excellence in precision machining skills among Illinois high school students. At the awards ceremony Thursday evening, May 11, TMA presented students with first-, second- and third-place awards in three machining categories.
Mazak customers in Mexico will soon benefit from enhanced levels of localized customer service and support with the grand opening of the Preci facility in Queretaro. The brand new building will house applications and service technicians, offer training to customers and demonstrate some of the most advanced Mazak machine tool and automation technologies, including those specifically geared toward the area’s well-entrenched aerospace and automotive industries.
At WMTS 2017, Mazak Canada will demonstrate how the QTN 450M turning center with Multi-Tasking DONE IN ONE® capabilities boosts productivity and reduces cycle times for large-diameter, shaft-type part manufacturing in industries such as oil and gas. The company will also run simulations of its MAZATROL SmoothX CNC, the industry’s fastest most progressive machine tool control, in booth 213 during the show that takes place June 6-8 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Mazak will host a special Discover More with Mazak™ Technology and Learning event at its Northeast Technology Center in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, May 16 – 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will give manufacturers in the region an opportunity to explore machine tool and support technology solutions that can enhance productivity and overcome specific manufacturing challenges on their shop floors.

Mazak will host its annual Discover More With Mazak™ Event at its Midwest Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, May 2 - 4. In addition to real-world part cutting demonstrations of the industry’s most innovative machine tools the company will conduct seminars and training sessions centered around its MAZATROL Smooth CNC technology.
Mazak will host a special Discover More with Mazak™ Technology and Learning event at its San Francisco facility in Milpitas, California, March 15 – 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will center on the particular needs of Silicon Valley shops as well as those of the local area manufacturing community in general.
At PMTS 2017, taking place April 25 – 27 in Columbus, Ohio, Mazak will showcase several machining solutions that enable shops to cost effectively achieve huge gains in productivity. In booth 349, the company will feature its new QUICK TURN PRIMOS 100, QUICK TURN UNIVERSAL (QTU) 200MSY and VC 500A5X machine models, each with a different level of CNC control technology and able to easily process wide varieties of parts.
As one of the newest members of Mazak’s additive machine family, the VARIAXIS j-600AM (Additive Manufacturing) Vertical Machining Center features an innovative Wire Arc-type metal deposition system. The technology takes the additive process to whole new levels in terms of speed, allowing shops to quickly and easily grow part features then employ the machine’s advanced 5-axis multi-surface subtractive capabilities to produce high-precision parts complete in single setups.
The new Mazak VTC-805E Vertical Traveling Column Machining Center brings high versatility and productivity to long, heavy parts production. The machine combines an increased Y-axis stroke, long bed/table size, high spindle speed and torque and Mazak’s new SmoothG CNC control for efficient, powerful machining.
