FLORENCE, Ky., October 18, 2016 – The VORTEX e-1250V/8S full 5-axis Horizontal Machining Center features an innovative design and brings increased accuracy to aerospace machining. The ergonomic machine sports a rigid, thermally symmetrical column that provides extreme stability and prevents heat distortion, making the machine a highly precise system for processing large, complex parts that require lots of material removal, such as those common in the aerospace industry.
The high-speed VORTEX-1250V/8S machine features a 50-hp, 15,000-rpm spindle, and C-axis direct drive motor that generates more speed, power and accuracy.
Mazak’s MAZATROL SmoothX CNC gives the VORTEX e-1250V/8S unparalleled processing speed and lets shops quickly and easily generate programs for highly complex part production. The CNC has several advanced functions that allow it to ensure the shortest possible machining cycle times, especially in fine increment programs for simultaneous 5-axis operations and free-form die-mold machining.
With standard tool capacity of 80 tools and optionally up to 412 tools, the VORTEX e-1250V/8S is equipped with a new vertical rack-style tool magazine. And for overall ergonomics and ease of use, Mazak situated the vertical tool magazine on the operator’s side of the machine as well as made the machine’s work envelope easily and safely accessible. This results in faster more efficient job set ups – workpiece, tooling, programming and machining checks – and all from the operator’s side.
