FLORENCE, Ky., September 20, 2022 – At IMTS 2022, attendees saw how the compact design of the Mazak VC-500C/2PC Vertical Machining Center can increase production capabilities for small to medium part machining in a variety of industries. Shops can maintain continuous uninterrupted production via the 3-axis machine's inline two-pallet changer, with a rotary table mounted on one pallet and multiple vices on the second pallet to maximize spindle utilization.
The VC-500/2PC pallet changer design makes it easy to incorporate a variety of optional accessories such as rotary tables, hydraulic or pneumatic fixtures on both pallets or a combination of both for high-production setups. Because each pallet has an extended length of 40" (1016 mm), shops can arrange them with a small trunnion table or combine a rotary table and tailstock to machine shaft components for extreme flexibility with higher-production parts.
The VC-500C/2PC features a rigid, powerful 25 hp (18.63 kW) 12,000 rpm spindle that delivers exceptional metal removal capabilities in all common materials, along with various spindle speed options. To further enhance production speed, the machine can be equipped with a 30, 40 or 60-tool magazine with a servo-driven automatic tool changer (ATC) for continuous operation and shorter cycle times through fast tool exchanges. Plus, an efficient chip management system helps reduce maintenance and work stoppages.
The machine’s 41.33” (1050mm) x 19.68” (500mm) table enables quick and simple setups. The X-axis features a generous 39.4" (1001 mm) stroke, and Y and X-axis travels of 19.88" (505 mm) and 20.07" (510 mm) respectively.
The VC-500C/2PC includes the MAZATROL SmoothG CNC with innovative programming, performance and monitoring functions, as well as the ability to use both G-code and MAZATROL conversational programming to bring optimum speed and accuracy to complex part production. Advanced hardware – including a pivoting CNC panel and intuitive, 19" multi-touch LCD control screen – allows for complete ease of use.
