As communities across the country come together to meet new challenges created by the pandemic, Mazak Corporation has been doing its part to support its neighbors in the greater Northern Kentucky region. The company recently served as the manufacturing partner for the Erlanger, Kentucky-based AquiSense Technologies, which has developed a new method for sanitizing face masks with ultraviolet light currently being tested by the local hospital system, St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
As reported by the Cincinnati Business Courier, AquiSense turned to Mazak after healthcare professionals’ need for sanitation solutions spurred the development of its PearlSurface technology. Hospitals across the country must currently ration and reuse the N95 masks that are recommended for protection from COVID-19 – and to help them, AquiSense CEO Oliver Lawal developed PearlSurface in a single weekend after prompting from Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Vice President Debby Shipp.
Shipp was also the driving force behind Lawal seeking out Mazak’s help. With the manufacturing capacity of the Mazak iSMART Factory™, we were able to make his prototype into a reality only 12 days after receiving the design. Learn more about this story and how this new technology is already making an impact at St. Elizabeth in the Cincinnati Business Courier.
