More than ever, applied technology is being called upon to solve manufacturing's quest for global competitiveness. The challenge is to locate varied technology providers and to gather them in one place for consultation. Then the customer's expertise in the design and functionality of his part can be leveraged into a break-through, cost-slashing manufacturing strategy.
Mazak makes available just such an environment in each of our Technology Centers. We know how powerful collaboration can be and are dedicated to bringing technology solutions closer to manufacturers across North America. With that dedication, we've twice expanded the size of our National Technology Center in Florence, Kentucky, since its opening. And we continue to build upon and strengthen – through new and expanded facilities – our network of Regional Technology Centers.
Our National Technology Center, which we opened in 1996 and doubled in size as the result of a 2006 expansion, has recently grown from 69,000 sq-ft to 100,183 sq-ft of space. Included in the expansion is a technology demonstration hall that was enlarged by 12,000 sq-ft and an additional 18,750 sq-ft of office space that houses six dedicated customer-training class rooms and space for our National Service Department and MAZATROL Control Support Group. The facility is home to customer hands-on training courses as well as machine maintenance training classes.
All Technology Centers share these resources:
- The latest Mazak machine tool technology installed and running to develop and test new process solutions.
- Process and application engineering. Some Technology Centers also have an industry focus (see below).
- Access to more technology providers to form a "solutions team," including:
