Job and contract shops, aerospace, medical, construction and paper industries represented at event

Florence, Kentucky, March 31, 2009 The 2009 Schaumburg Technology Days at Mazak's Midwest Headquarters and Technology Center was a rousing success. Entitled “Succeeding in Today's Economy – Tomorrow’s Solutions, Here Today," the two-day event far exceeded attendance expectations in these troubled times. Customers from a variety of industries, including aerospace, medical, construction and job and contract shops traveled from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin to learn more about steps to ensure continued profitability.

Brian Papke, President of Mazak; John Israelsson, President of Sandvik Coromant; Matt Garran, Director of Technology at Great Lakes Wind Network; and Bill Haas of the American Wind Energy Association headlined the event, which also featured technical seminars and hands-on demonstrations on advanced multi-tasking and 5-axis machines.

"Mazak is committed to providing our customers with the necessary tools to achieve manufacturing excellence," said Tim Fara, General Manager of Mazak's Midwest Headquarters and Technology Center. "Between the keynote speakers and technical seminars given by experts from Sandvik Coromant, Kennametal, LNS, Master Cam, Gibbs, Renishaw, SMW and Fanuc Robotics, our customers are armed with information that will allow them to increase productivity and profitability in these challenging times."

Additionally, the event allowed Mazak to partner with customers to develop a range of projects over the next six months, many of which require the production of a variety of new machines.

"Though some believe that the economic slowdown presents too great a risk to warrant investment in advanced machining processes, nothing could be further from the truth," noted Mr. Papke. "Companies that invest in new processes and become profitable during lean times will have an edge when the economy is booming again, and I believe that Mazak can play an integral role in that future success."
